Tim David, alongside being a skilled cricketer, possesses sharp observation skills. During a conversation with Mr. Nags, David discussed his camaraderie with his Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) teammate, Phil Salt.
Phil Salt, the RCB opener, was sidelined for several matches in the middle of the tournament due to a finger injury. Ahead of the IPL 2026 playoffs, Salt has rejoined the squad, though his return to play for RCB this season remains uncertain.
Tim David Discusses His Relationship with Phil Salt
Fans were eager for updates on Phil Salt’s injury. The batsman had returned to England for treatment. While in his home country, Salt maintained regular contact with his teammate Tim David. David noted that Salt initially communicated through video calls, and later transitioned to text messages. According to Tim David, this shift indicated Salt’s recovery, as he was able to use his fingers to type.
During their discussion, Tim David revealed the depth of his bond with Phil Salt. It is widely known that the Australian all-rounder has a fondness for posters. Consequently, Mr. Nags inquired about David’s interest in posters and graphics.
David Provides an Example
“I don’t know who the people are, but they’re happy birthday, and they won an election, or someone’s got good exam results, and they see it on the side of the road, and I wanted a part of that. Beautiful. Do you remember any posters that you have seen? I saw one today that said Sir Help Desk, so that was interesting. I pinned it on my WhatsApp. I sent it to Salty (Phil Salt). I sent him, if we ever need help, straight here,” Tim David shared.
“So, Timmy (Tim David), you and Salty are best friends. How did that friendship happen?” Mr. Nags asked David. “We share a sense of humor. You know, we like spending time together. It can be a long time away from home,” the Australian star replied.
The conversation became more engaging when Nags asked David for the latest updates on Salt’s current fitness status.
Phil Salt’s Injury Update
“Yeah, well, last week he was video calling me a lot. But now, we’re texting more, so I think his finger is getting better,” David commented on Salt’s injury.
According to recent media reports, Phil Salt has recovered from the finger injury on his left hand, which he sustained on April 18 while playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). He had traveled back to the UK for further medical assessments.
Following all medical procedures, the batsman returned to India and rejoined the Royal Challengers Bengaluru ahead of the playoffs. Despite losing their final group match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, RCB remains at the top of the IPL 2026 points table. RCB’s next match is scheduled for May 26 against the Gujarat Titans at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala.
