Bengaluru city police issues advisories ahead of the RCB vs GT IPL 2026 final
In the final, RCB will face Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans. RCB is widely considered the favorite to win the trophy. The Bengaluru city police have, as per reports, prohibited all forms of public celebrations, including bike rallies, speeding, excessive honking, and public match screenings without prior authorization.
These precautionary measures are being implemented based on the lessons learned from a tragic incident last year. In 2025, RCB secured their first-ever IPL title after an 18-year wait. To commemorate this victory, the franchise organized a road rally with their fans, followed by a ceremony at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
A chaotic celebration caused 11 deaths in 2025
An immense number of fans had gathered on the streets to be part of the celebration, and the situation eventually spiraled out of control. What should have been a moment of joy turned tragic when 11 fans lost their lives in a stampede outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
To prevent a recurrence of such an event, the Bengaluru city police have issued advance advisories to the public. They have also cautioned citizens to respond responsibly to any social media content that is provocative, hateful, or spreads rumors.
