English Version (Rewritten)
Serbian tennis icon Novak Djokovic recently shared a candid reflection on his challenging journey through the elite world of professional tennis, touching upon themes of identity, societal expectations, and the resistance he encountered.
Hailing from a background that diverged from the traditional powers in the sport, Djokovic recounted how his ambition to reach the top spot was met with opposition from the established hierarchy. He observed that despite desires for a democratic and peaceful sporting environment, underlying societal and political dynamics create boundaries.
He clarified that while his struggle wasn’t about personal racism, it stemmed from not belonging to the ‘Western powers’ – a reference to players from Switzerland, Spain, and similar regions. Djokovic stated, «I came in and declared that I would be number one. They didn’t like that. I was challenging the status quo, and they didn’t appreciate me being there.» He emphasized that despite this friction, his respect for his fellow competitors remained constant.
Initially, he felt immense pressure to conform and please others. «I tried to please people, to fit in with what they wanted from me,» he admitted, describing this period as a difficult battle where he felt «like an unwanted child.»
Ultimately, Djokovic found peace by embracing his true self, accepting that not everyone would approve of him or his style. «I am me, and at least I can sleep in peace,» he concluded, highlighting his journey to self-acceptance.

Serbiyalik tennis yulduzi Novak Jokovich yaqinda professional tennisning elit dunyosidagi murakkab yo’li haqida samimiy fikrlarini baham ko’rdi, bunda u shaxsiyat, jamiyat kutganlari va duch kelgan qarshiliklarga to’xtaldi.
Sportning an’anaviy kuchlaridan farq qiluvchi kelib chiqishiga ega bo’lgan Jokovich, birinchi raqamli bo’lish ambitsiyalari o’rnatilgan ierarxiya tomonidan qanday qarshilikka uchraganini esladi. Uning ta’kidlashicha, sport muhiti demokratik va tinch bo’lishiga qaramay, asosiy ijtimoiy va siyosiy dinamikalar chegaralar yaratadi.
Uning kurashi shaxsiy irqchilik bilan bog’liq bo’lmaganini, balki «G’arb kuchlari» – Shveytsariya, Ispaniya va shunga o’xshash hududlardan kelgan o’yinchilarga nisbatan aytilgan – guruhga mansub emasligidan kelib chiqqanini tushuntirdi. Jokovich shunday dedi: «Men kelib, birinchi raqamli bo’lishimni e’lon qildim. Ularga bu yoqmadi. Men status-kvoga qarshi chiqqandim va ular mening u yerda bo’lishimni qadrlashmadi.» U bu ziddiyatga qaramay, raqiblariga bo’lgan hurmati doimiy bo’lib qolganini ta’kidladi.
Dastlab, u moslashish va boshqalarni mamnun qilish uchun katta bosimni his qildi. «Men odamlarni rozi qilishga, ularning mendan xohlaganlariga moslashishga harakat qildim,» deb tan oldi u, bu davrni qiyin kurash sifatida tasvirlab, o’zini «keraksiz bola»dek his qilganini aytdi.
Oxir-oqibat, Jokovich o’zining haqiqiy qiyofasini qabul qilish orqali xotirjamlik topdi, hamma ham uni yoki uning uslubini ma’qullamasligini qabul qildi. «Men o’z-o’zimman va hech bo’lmaganda tinch uxlay olaman,» deya xulosa qildi u, o’zini anglash sari yo’lini ta’kidlab.
